On October 30th, 2013, the BIA held it’s Annual General Meeting at the Local Gest @ 424 Parliament St, where BIA Members approved a budget and program for 2014. We had an excellent evening together. If you missed it, here are some highlights:

  • Artist-Designed Pole Banners highlighting Cabbagetown main streets will be installed in 2014;
  • A Community Garden is planned to be installed opposite of TD Bank in order to complete the beautification at that major intersection;
  •  An increase in Street Cleaning has begun within the BIA zone during the week, with the help of Dale Bilby in order to improve the cleanliness of our main streets;
  •  Street Art Removal quotes are being compared to remove tagging on our historical properties, as well as the Graffiti Removal Program, run in partnership with 51 Division and Const. Marty McLaughlin. The programs continues each school term with various Toronto schools.

Introducing: Cabbagetown ReLeaf Tree Steward Program

Do you love trees?  Do you have a passion to do good work in your community, learn about the urban forest, have fun and meet other like-minded people? If so, the Cabbagetown ReLEAF Tree Steward (CRTS) Program just might be for you.

No previous experience is needed to become a Cabbagetown ReLEAF Tree Steward (CRTS), but you do need a passion for trees, a desire to learn, and the commitment to help.  Cabbagetown ReLEAF's mission is to promote a larger, healthier urban forest as part of our green infrastructure through community planting, tree care, tree protection, education, and advocacy.
