Canada Day Weekend News

Music on Parliament Street
Jim Heineman brings his trio for an afternoon of beautiful jazz at Winchester and Parliament on Saturday. This completes our Music on Parliament Street series.
Marinda and her friends charmed passersby last weekend during her performance at Carlton and Parliament.

Attention all Community Groups

We’re gathering people now for our annual Cabbagetown Festival parade. It happens on Saturday, September 6. Please call us to share your plans for this year’s edition. It’s a unique occasion when Cabbagetown’s finest strut their stuff and all of us get together to launch our Festival weekend. Call Marianne at (416) 921-0857.

New business hours
The Beer Stores at 534 Parliament and at 227 Gerrard are both opening for extended hours from 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Thirsty people everywhere are grateful.
The CIBC at 245 Carlton has extended banking hours: on Thursday and Friday, the branch is open until 7 pm and on Saturday, it opens from 9:30 am to 4 pm. These hours are definitely much more convenient for Cabbagetown customers.

Primp your pooch for Pride.
Have a clean canine for Canada Day.

Here’s a great opportunity. Use the “Do It Yourself” dog wash at Menagerie Pet Shop on Friday, Saturday and Sunday – it’s free! Dunk your dog for half-an-hour with all washing supplies provided. First come, first served.

Boardroom furniture
Greater Minds International (250A Carlton) is selling a beautiful mahogany conference table set complete with eight leather chairs. Call Ekua at (416) 922-7203.

Many restaurants and pubs will be open for you on Canada Day. Ask your favourite about their hours. For many, it promises to be busy.
