Music on Parliament Street
Jim Heineman brings his trio for an afternoon of beautiful jazz at Winchester and Parliament on Saturday. This completes our Music on Parliament Street series.
Marinda and her friends charmed passersby last weekend during her performance at Carlton and Parliament.

Attention all Community Groups

We’re gathering people now for our annual Cabbagetown Festival parade. It happens on Saturday, September 6. Please call us to share your plans for this year’s edition. It’s a unique occasion when Cabbagetown’s finest strut their stuff and all of us get together to launch our Festival weekend. Call Marianne at (416) 921-0857.

New business hours
The Beer Stores at 534 Parliament and at 227 Gerrard are both opening for extended hours from 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Thirsty people everywhere are grateful.
The CIBC at 245 Carlton has extended banking hours: on Thursday and Friday, the branch is open until 7 pm and on Saturday, it opens from 9:30 am to 4 pm. These hours are definitely much more convenient for Cabbagetown customers.

Primp your pooch for Pride.
Have a clean canine for Canada Day.

Here’s a great opportunity. Use the “Do It Yourself” dog wash at Menagerie Pet Shop on Friday, Saturday and Sunday – it’s free! Dunk your dog for half-an-hour with all washing supplies provided. First come, first served.

Boardroom furniture
Greater Minds International (250A Carlton) is selling a beautiful mahogany conference table set complete with eight leather chairs. Call Ekua at (416) 922-7203.

Holiday eats
Many restaurants and pubs will be open for you on Canada Day. Ask your favourite about their hours. For many, it promises to be busy.

Most of our businesses close for the day on July 1. But it is possible to find important services throughout the neighbourhood.

The bank branch at CIBC is closed on Canada Day. CIBC’s machine at Carlton and Parliament and the Scotiabank machine at Parliament and Gerrard are accessible from the outdoors and are available all day. The RBC machines at TRI Bakery, Esso, and Fairway Market are all open.

Food stores

The food shop at Daniel et Daniel closes on both Monday and Tuesday. Epicure Shop, No Frills and St Jamestown Steak & Chops are closed on July 1.

Beer & Liquor
Both Beer Stores and the LCBO are closed. (You can, however, get a drink at your favourite pub or restaurant – many are open on Tuesday.)

Shoppers Drug Mart (467 Parliament) is open from 10 am to midnight, Lord’s (521 Parliament) from 9 am to 3 pm and Ultra (411 Parliament) from 11 am to 5 pm. Main Drugs, Dales Pharmacy and Parliament Pharmacy are all closed.

Esso (581 Parliament) is open regular hours.

Nettleships and Royal Home Hardware are closed.

Blockbuster (541 Parliament) and 241 Video (455 Parliament) are open during regular hours – proving that there’s no rest for the wicked.

Both Pet Valu and Menagerie Pet Shop are closed – so stock up on your kibble. Dr Scott McClure’s Cabbagetown Pet Clinic on Gerrard St is also closed
