EXTRA HANDS NEEDED FOR TONIGHT’S CYC CELEBRATION

A MESSAGE FROM COUNCILLOR, PAM MCCONNELL

On November 29, the City released the proposed 2013 Operating and Capital Budgets. These budgets affect nearly every aspect of our community – from transit routes, recreation programs, and emergency services to the condition of our City facilities, roads, and infrastructure. Staff’s budget presentations, along with committee meeting schedules and budget details, are available at http://www.toronto.ca/budget2013/taxsupported/index.htm.
These budgets lay out the City’s priorities for the coming year. Despite their importance, the budget process is now accelerated and compressed, compared to previous terms of Council.

To offer residents a forum to learn more about the 2013 Budgets, I am hosting a Budget Town Hall, along with Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam. This is an opportunity to ask questions, voice your concerns, and hear from other residents and community stakeholders. After the town hall, Commitment 2 Community will offer a brief workshop about how to make a deputation.

Date: Saturday, December 8

Time: 1 pm to 3 pm (Presentations and Q&A), 3 pm to 4:30 pm (Deputation Workshop)

Location: Aki Studio, Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas Street East)

I hope that you will be able to join us.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting on my website details about the budgets. If you are unable to attend the town hall, I will also post a copy of my budget presentation. Information on making a deputation to the Budget Committee can be found here . Of course, feel free to contact my office any time with your thoughts or concerns.

The role of our municipal government is to build healthy and vibrant communities for everyone. As always, I am committed to protecting the vital services residents depend on and ensuring that we are building a city we can all be proud of.

Pam
