School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents MOMENTUM 2013
May 2 - 4 & 9 - 11
The School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents an ambitious
main-stage performance of ensemble works, showcasing dancers from all three
years of the Professional Training Program
· First year students will present two new
works: a rigorous and powerful piece by Julia Sasso, as well
as a work by Sharon B. Moore which challenges dancers to their
dramatic and energetic extremes.
· Second year students will perform a new work
on the shifting nature of relationships entitled Perpetual Dusk, a piece by
Montreal-based choreographer and master Bouffon teacher, Massimo Agostinelli.
They will also perform in a remount of Coralee McLaren’s colourful, sublimely
musical, and uplifting work, Toccata.
· Dancers of the graduating class will perform
in a new creation by Allen Kaeja,
incorporating many elements of the demanding discipline of contact
improvisation. They will also present a new creation by acknowledged master
choreographer and School alumnus, Tedd Robinson, who is
the 2013 recipient of the School’s Kathryn Ash Choreographic Commission.
