Cabbagetown Preservation Association's Hidden Gardens & Private Spaces Tour

20 Wellesley Avenue's garden complete with a recreation of Kathmandu's Kumari palace window as a focal point.
The Cabbagetown Preservation Association Garden Tour - "Hidden Gardens and Private Spaces" - takes place on Sunday, June 2 from 10:00am - 3:00pm when ten private gardens will be on view. This self-guided tour, using the map on the ticket, brings visitors along the streets of the Cabbagetown Heritage Conservation District of downtown Toronto and through quiet back lanes or tree-lined streets to hidden alcoves of greenery.
One of three outdoor rooms in the garden of 297 Carlton Street on the 2011 Hidden Gardens and Private Spaces tour.
Visit unique urban gardens from the quaint to the quirky. Proud gardeners will be on site to answer questions about the creative use of small spaces, the challenges of urban wildlife, (raccoons, skunks, squirrels, coyotes & opossums) and choices of plants and other materials. Use the map on the ticket as well as balloonbouquets at garden entrances as guides to stroll through this charming neighbourhood. Some gardens can only be entered from back lanes with intriguing names: Yen, Magic, Gordon Sinclair or Nuthatch.
A restful oasis is part of the garden at 89 Winchester Street.

Along the way, also note some community gardens: at Prospect and Parliament, Winchester and Parliament and Sword Street - the boulevard gardens. This year Michael Hepburn of Hepburn Landscape Contractors will be our guest gardening expert to answer questions about gardens and garden design.
Entering the garden at 40 Gifford Street.
Tickets cost $15:00. Get your ticket early; a limited number of tickets get printed and this tour sells out.
